With the 2024-2025 season just around the corner. It is time to start counting coins and gathering streaming sources to see just how much it will cost to watch our favorite teams or just big games in general. Well, if you are a Sunday Ticket fan there is good and bad news. Let’s start with the good… “new” features. This year NFL Sunday Ticket will have Multi-View and Fantasy View.

Therefore, you will be able to simultaneously keep up with the games you care about AND the stats that are pertinent to your players, teams and fantasy leagues. 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov reports:

“YouTube is adding customizable multi-view options to NFL Sunday Ticket, allowing users to build custom two-, three-, or four-game multi-view panels.

    A big W.

[Morever], YouTube TV will now also offer Fantasy View, allowing Yahoo and NFL.com users to link their fantasy teams to their YouTube TV accounts—which will provide key plays and multi-view options personalized to each viewer’s fantasy football roster.”

Nice little setup. However, it is the price that has football fans doing a double take this year. And perhaps thinking… dang cable maybe wasn’t so bad. Well… it was in some ways; but at least the live feed lag time (for some up to 20 seconds now when streaming) wasn’t an issue.

Nonetheless, we digress. Sunday Ticket is now available on the Apple App Store for $679.99. If you would like to get the package along with RedZone (a serious lifeline and must-have for the NFL enthusiast); it will cost you $739.99. However, buying directly from YouTube should get you some savings. David Rumsey of Front Office Sports comments:

“NFL Sunday Ticket is getting a major upgrade heading into the second season of Google’s seven-year, $14 billion streaming deal for the league’s out-of-market media rights package. DirecTV, which last had Sunday Ticket during the 2022 NFL season, offered a single multiview option each week.

Starting with Week 1 next month, Sunday Ticket users will be able to select almost any combination they please of two, three, or four games, or NFL RedZone. The caveat is that local game broadcasts, which are available to subscribers who have local channels through YouTube TV, will be limited to fewer combinations. How limited? That remains to be seen.

Multiview is currently available on TVs, mobile devices, and tablets, for YouTube TV members. For Sunday Ticket subscribers on YouTube, multiview will be available on mobile devices and tablets, in addition to TVs, at the start of the NFL season. The base price of Sunday Ticket increased by $30 this month, up to $379 for YouTube TV subscribers, and $479 for the à la carte option via YouTube.”

Despite the pricing, this is a step up in improvement. Especially for fans who miss being able to simply flip to games (during the cable era) they wish to view. Last season, NFL Sunday Ticket only offered preselected multiview combinations.

So then, allowing fans more control this season is definitely better. No one wants to be told what to watch. Or unnecessarily limited.

In the future it would be nice to see more single team packages. Since pricing is beginning to leave some fans in the dust. But unfortunately as long as money is being made, sports packages; especially with the biggest sport in the world; will continue to head north.
