Three preseason games were played on Friday and eight games were slated for Saturday and three for Sunday. However, if you missed our thoughts on the Thursday games, be sure to catch up on all of those updates. But for now here are some quick notes from some of the preseason Week 3 Friday and Saturday games. Starting off with the Jaguars vs Falcons, the Jaguars played their starting offense for a couple of drives. Their starting defense played the entire first half. Starting QB Trevor Lawrence looked very good in the two series he played. Conversely the Falcons didn’t play any of their starters, hence that’s probably why they lost 31-0.

In the battle of Florida, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers prevailed over the Miami Dolphins 24-14. Like the other Florida team in Jacksonville, the Buccaneers played their starting QB for the first series. Baker Mayfield looked comfortable moving the ball down the field, even though it was against Miami’s backup players. Head coach Mike McDaniel may have a tough decision to make regarding who will be Tagovailoa’s backup. Will it be Mike White or Skylar Thompson?

From the deep south we head way out west to the 49ers vs Raiders. The 49ers have shown they have a pretty good group of running backs led by Christian McCaffrey of course. Whereas the Raiders’ Tyreik McAllister is showing really good promise as a running back turned wide receiver. But he can also play on special teams returning kicks. It never hurts to have such a versatile player on the roster. The other thing about this game is that it ended in a tie, 24-24. Did you know there is no overtime in the preseason? If a game is tied at the end of regulation, it stays that way.

Quick Notes From Preseason Week 3 Friday And Saturday

Bryce Young of the Carolina Panthers made his preseason debut and looked good doing it. He played one series and led the drive to score an 8-yard touchdown. The Panthers hope this success will translate to the regular season. On the other side of the ball, Frank Gore, Jr. is looking to make the Buffalo Bills roster. Son of the former 49ers great Frank Gore, Junior rushed for 101 yards on 18 carries, averaging 5.6 yards per carry, and one touchdown.

Lastly, the Detroit Lions beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-17, but the Steelers were happy to finally see some offensive output. Head coach Mike Tomlin did not make any announcements about who will be the starting quarterback. It doesn’t appear Russell Wilson or Justin Fields have done a lot to distinguish themselves. Green Bay Packers, Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, and Los Angeles Rams didn’t play their starters.

There are three more Saturday games that are in the early stages.
