During his career, a Lakers superstar indelibly left his mark on not only the basketball realm, but on the entire sports world. A man that was relentless on the court and won five NBA championships; and was an 18-time All-Star, 15-time member of the All-NBA Team, 12-time member of the All-Defensive Team, the 2008 NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP), and a two-time NBA Finals MVP. Yet, even now he is still bringing the fans together to enjoy live sports entertainment. To celebrate one of the best to ever do it, Kobe Bryant’s daughter Bianka honors him with throwing out the Dodgers first pitch for Kobe Bryant Jersey Day.

During a series match up against the Tampa Bay Rays; the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Lakers decided to come together to commemorate both iconic franchises. The weekend saw two different giveaways go down. Fans that hit up Saturday’s game got a Showtime Lakers t-shirt with a cartoon design of the legendary Lakers wearing Dodger uniforms.

What about Sunday’s game? Well, Sunday was especially dedicated the great Kobe. Attendees at Dodger Stadium got to experience the Dodgers giving their fans a special “Black Mamba” Kobe Bryant jersey to celebrate the legend. According to FOX LA,

“The black jerseys were designed to honor the “Black Mamba,” with a snake print trimmed in gold with a “KB” patch on the sleeve. The jersey also commemorates the two jersey numbers he wore during his remarkable 20-season career with the Lakers— showcasing No. 8 on the front and No. 24 on the back.”

Besides the nice giveaways, an awesome moment was seeing the Bryant family involved, especially one of Kobe’s young daughters. Bianka Bryant who was sadly just three years old when her father passed; took to the mound. The 7-year-old confidently throws out the ceremonial first pitch; which was caught by Mookie Betts.

Immediately, the crowd erupts into applause. And Bianka is all smiles. It is obvious that she really enjoyed doing something to honor her dad.

Plus, there is more good news to go around. Mookie Betts presents a $100,000 donation on behalf of the Los Angeles Dodgers to Vanessa Bryant. The $100K is for the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation. A nonprofit organization dedicated to creating positive impact for underserved athletes and boys & girls in sports. All in loving memory of Kobe and Gianna ”Gigi” Bryant.

Very nice. A wonderful gesture, towards a wonderful initiative. And a great tribute for a great baller.
