This NBA organization just watched their guy help Team USA bring home a gold medal after battling against Serbia and France. Therefore, it makes perfect sense that they would want to lockdown this superstar player who is also a major piece and component to their roster. After some negotiations, the Warriors Stephen Curry has agreed on a one-year $62.6 million extension.

Steph has been a force for the Warriors. Drafted back in 2009, Curry has 15 seasons of experience under his belt. Averaging 24.8 points, 6.4 assists and 4.7 rebounds in 956 regular season games thus far for the Warriors. And oh yeah, he’s helped the franchise win 4 NBA championships while being selected in 10 All Star games and winning 2 MVP Awards as well as 1 Finals MVP. So definitely not the kind of guy you don’t pay or just let go.

NBA insider for ESPN, Adrian Wojnarowski, confirms the news of the Steph Curry contract extension. He states,

“Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has agreed on a one-year, $62.6 million extension that’ll keep him under contract through the 2026-2027 season, his agent Jeff Austin of Octagon tells ESPN.

Curry is guaranteed $178 million over the next three years of his Warriors deal. Extension will be signed today, Austin tells ESPN.”

If the above sounds like a nice payday. It is. To give things a little more perspective, ESPN’s Bobby Marks adds this piece of intel to the pot; he mentions,

“Curry passes $500M+ in career earnings on the court, joining LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

Because of the Over 38 rule, the 1 year extension is the maximum that Golden State could offer.”

And there is another reason why Curry was deserving of his own Brinks truck delivery. It can’t be underscored the kind of value that Steph adds not just to the Warriors, but the entire league. As CNBC notes,

“Curry, among other stars, is one of the reasons why the NBA was able to negotiate an 11-year, $77 billion media rights contract in its most recent deal with Disney, NBCUniversal and Amazon, which takes effect after the upcoming season. The booming value of media rights is driving player salaries up with it.”

The 36 year old Curry will be playing this year without his Splash Bro, Klay Thompson in the mix. But we are confident that Steph will still do his best to help his team thrive and win. Just like he just did at the summer games.
