She is a legendary broadcasting journalist so her latest honor is quite fitting. Andrea Kremer is one of 10 people to be inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame this year. Some other notable names are Bryant Gumble, long-time popular television host and broadcaster. And Chris Mortensen of ESPN fame, known for his NFL reporting. Also former Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delaney, who also launched the profitable Big Ten Network.

Kremer is a pioneer for women in sports broadcasting. She was ESPN’s first female correspondent (1989-2006), providing in-depth reports for “SportsCenter,” “Sunday NFL Countdown” and “Monday Night Countdown,” among other shows. Her interviews with some of the most recognizable names in sports have been memorable. They include one-on-ones with Robert Kraft, Kobe Bryant, Urban Meyer, Pete Carroll, Phil Jackson, Lane Kiffin, Barret Robbins, DeMaurice Smith, Bill Parcells, Joakim Noah and Jim and John Harbaugh.

In May of 2007, she joined HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel. The Los Angeles Times called Kremer “the best TV interviewer in the business of covering the NFL.” In August of 2018, she was honored by the Pro Football Hall of Fame as the recipient of the Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award, which recognizes “long-time exceptional contributions to radio and television in professional football.”

She’s known for breaking stories and drawing attention to important issues in sports. Such as in 2012, Kremer reported on the largely unknown use of Toradol in NFL locker-rooms. In 2014, she provided a detailed report exploring the considerable use of marijuana by NFL players. And why the drug is preferred for pain management by so many when compared to opiate-based painkillers that can become addictive.

Kremer’s list of awards and accolades seems endless which includes two Emmys and a Peabody. In 2017 she was inducted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame. She was the first inductee into the Cynopsis Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of her many contributions to journalism.

She has worn a lot of hats and is currently the Chief Correspondent for NFL Network. Kremer has worked more than 25 Super Bowls, covered the NBA Finals and All-Star Games, Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game and League Championship Series, college football bowl games, Stanley Cup Playoffs and Finals, NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, U.S. Olympic basketball trials, and the PGA Championship.

So it’s not surprising that she is a Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame 2024 inductee. The ceremony will be held on December 17, 2024, at the New York Hilton Hotel.
