It was the battle of the birds at Lincoln Field in Philadelphia. The Atlanta Falcons traveled to the city of brotherly love to face Jalen Hurts and the Eagles. However, on their home opener game the Eagles let the win slip away on Monday Night Football. It was a back and forth battle between the teams as they tried to figure each other out.

The Eagles got the ball first and started with a nice 15 yard completion but nothing much after that. They punted the ball and pinned the Falcons down at their 8-yard line. The Falcons gained about 20 yards and had to punt. The Eagles second drive had more success with more of Saquon Barkley running the ball. They got to the Falcons 9-yard line and went for the 4th & 4 but the pass to Goedert was incomplete. Thereafter both teams had to punt again before going to the second quarter.

In the second quarter the Falcons drew first blood with a field goal. And the Eagles responded with a touchdown. The Falcons came back with a field goal after the Eagles defense shut down their runs and passes in the red zone. The half ended with the Eagles up 6-7. Both teams had struggles on both sides of the ball and too many penalties also added to their issues.

However, it was a different story for the Falcons in the second half. Kirk Cousins that played for the Vikings showed up instead of Kirk Cousins from last week. He started connecting more with his receivers; plus Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier got the running game going. They scored a field goal and a touchdown in the third quarter. But the Eagles weren’t done yet.

In the fourth quarter the Eagles took back the lead. Jalen hurts had to put the team on his back as he scrambled and passed his way down the field running the ball into the end zone for the 1-yard touchdown. That drive took 9:34 off the clock and the Falcons then turned the ball over on downs. The Eagles ate up more clock with another drive that should have ended with a touchdown but they had to kick a field goal.

Kirk Cousins promptly led the Falcons on an 8 play, 70-yard drive that ended with a touchdown and the lead. The Eagles had 34 seconds left to try to get in field goal range but Hurts was intercepted. And the Falcons got the 22-21 victory over the Eagles.
