We are headed into Week 6 of the NFL season with the halfway point rapidly approaching. With five games under their belts teams may be analyzing their rosters to see what changes might need to be made. And the most impactful change is usually under center. So depending on who you root for you may be asking is it time to start up the quarterback carousel? Fixing the quarterback position can lead to positive results. Just look at the Washington Commanders, Chicago Bears, and Denver Broncos. They all started their first round rookie draft picks this season and are reaping excellent results.

Jayden Daniels of the Commanders has led his team to a 4-1 start and has quickly become known for his passing accuracy. Caleb Williams of the Bears had a breakout game yesterday and currently has his team with a 3-2 record. And then there is Bo Nix of the Broncos. Not only did he lead his team to victory yesterday but was bold enough to jaw at head coach Sean Payton on the sidelines. Therefore, it appears these teams are in good shape at the quarterback position for years to come.

The same cannot be said for teams like the New England Patriots, the Las Vegas Raiders or the Cleveland Browns. The Patriots drafted Drake Maye in the 2024 NFL Draft but have opted to sit him. Jacoby Brissett has been their starter thus far. However, per ESPN Insider Mike Reiss, head coach Jerod Mayo may be inclined to a change.

“Opinion/analysis: Notable shift in Jerod Mayo’s answers regarding QB situation in his day-after-game video conference compared to past weeks. Mayo said last week the way the team won its only game was “unsustainable” and he seems to strongly be considering switch to Drake Maye.”

Head coach Antonio Pierce was coy regarding their quarterback situation. He didn’t specify who would be the Week 6 starter against Pittsburgh. “Yeah, just keep evaluating the film, evaluating everything from scheme, players — everything,” Pierce said. “So, we’re still doing that upstairs, currently.”

As for the Browns, Deshaun Watson had his worst performance of the season yesterday. However, head coach Kevin Stefanski said. “we’re not changing quarterbacks.” Watson had great success with the Houston Texans which is why the Browns went and got him. But that success has not been replicated in Cleveland. And they let Joe Flacco go to the Indianapolis Colts.

So it remains to be seen what these three teams will do, and if the quarterback carousel will be fired up.
