Binghamton Plaza Owners Fight City’s Effort to Seize Property
The city of Binghamton is moving forward with its effort to gain control of the Binghamton Plaza site. Mayor Jared Kraham last summer announced plans to use eminent domain to seize the plaza property on West State Street on the city's North Side. He noted the owners of the six-decade-old retail complex owed hundreds of thousands of dollars in back taxes.
Antique Machine Gun Stolen From Long Island Roof
A World War I era machine gun has vanished from from a Long Island Marine Corps facility just off of Sunrise Highway in Bay Shore. According to a report by Gaby Acevedo of NBC New York, law enforcement officials say the antique weapon, a World War I German MG-08 machine gun, went missing over the weekend. It had been resting on the roof of the Suffolk County Detachment of the Marine Corps in Bay Shore before vanishing.

New York Announces First Annual Free Snowmobiling Weekend
New York State Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that starting this year, the first weekend in March will be free snowmobiling weekend for even out-of-state snowmobilers. In a press release last week, Governor Hochul announced that this year the registration fee for out-of-state and Canadian snowmobilers will be waived from March 3 to 5 this year, and the first consecutive Saturday and Sunday in March each year going forward.

Tesla fired several employees at a solar panel and renewable energy technology factory in Buffalo, New York shortly after the former employees launched a unionizing effort. According to a report by Michelle Chapman for the Associated Press, several employees were fired from a Tesla factory in Buffalo, New York just one day after launching a union organizing effort. A letter was sent to management by Tesla Workers United on Tuesday, one day before the firings, notifying the company that employees wanted a voice at the plant.

Elderly Upstate New York Couple Scammed Out of $24,000
An elderly couple living in upstate New York found themselves out $24,000 when a scammer claiming to be their grandson called from jail looking for bail money. According to a report by David Luces for The Star, three men scammed an elderly couple from upstate New York by posing as their grandson asking for bail money. Apparently, the grandparents received a call from who they believed to be their grandson from jail, claiming he had been in an accident and he needed money for bail.
