Ameristar Casino Resort Spa in Missouri to Expand, Renovate By 2025

Ameristar Casino Resort Spa in St. Charles, Missouri, announced on Wednesday that it will be expanding its convention center along with renovating its hotel and restaurants. Boyd Gaming, which owns the casino, announced its plans to triple the size of its meeting and convention space.

“This will be an additional 40,000-plus square feet of meeting and convention space,” said Doug Lang, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Ameristar St. Charles. “What you can’t see behind here is [the] existing space we have on the property that we’re going to transform into a state-of-the-art facility.”

The expansion project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2025, according to Lang. In fact, Ameristar will become the largest hotel convention center in St. Charles County. It will include 400 all-suite hotel rooms and seven restaurants.

In addition to the expansion, the resort will undergo an upgrade to its 397 hotel rooms as the property plans to complete hotel renovations later this year.

“This is a great property,” Ward Shaw, Executive Vice President of Operations for Boyd Gaming, said. “It’s been a great performer for three decades now. Really capitalizing on that success.

“We really see this as the next phase of growth opportunity in this business. Then, on top of that, just a great location in a great market. You think about St. Louis, centrally located in the U.S.”

Casino plans to unveil an upgraded VIP lounge in the weeks ahead

Over the last two years, Ameristar has debuted a couple of new amenities. According to the website, the casino added an upscale cafe and bakery named Copper Whisk and the first Roll-in and Out store in the region.

Furthermore, the casino says it plans to reveal an upgraded VIP lounge experience in the coming weeks. Ameristar is also in the process of replacing the Amerisports Bar & Grill with a gastropub and sports bar. It’s expected to rebrand its steakhouse by mid-2025 as well.

Ameristar Casino Resort Spa should have no problem bringing in new guests.

“We feel like we’ve got a prime position in this market,” Shaw said. “Proximity to the airport, ease of access, [and] beautiful four-diamond hotel on site [will attract guests].

“Amenities on site for meeting and event planners really make it an attractive destination. We’ve been turning business away because our demand [exceeded] our supply. So, we’re changing the supply.”
