Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas has recently confirmed that the company has laid off an undisclosed number of employees. A representative of the company indicated the layoffs were the result of a personnel adjustment that occurred after Dreamscape Cos. took over operations from former owner Caesars Entertainment Inc.

Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas downsized its staff to help the company operate more efficiently

An emailed statement from the company said:

“We proactively expanded our workforce while taking over operations from Caesars Entertainment in Q4 2023. As the resort undergoes extensive construction and remodeling, we now have a better understanding of the staffing levels Rio Las Vegas needs to provide guest service and operational efficiency.

“We deeply appreciate the unwavering commitment and diligence of all our team members and extend our heartfelt gratitude to those directly affected by the adjustments.”

According to the Rio Careers web page, the company is currently looking to fill seven positions. Available positions include a showroom host, assistant manager at Starbucks, full-time security officer, part-time security officer, banquet head houseperson, pool cabana host, and lifeguard.

Unless the postings have yet to be listed, it would appear that the company did not fire any casino managers. That is, of course, assuming that Rio is looking to fill any open higher-up positions.

Caesars sold the casino to Dreamscape in 2019 for $516 million

Caesars sold Rio Hotel & Casino to Dreamscape in 2019 for $516 million. Dreamscape’s top executive, real estate investor Eric Birnbaum, then pursued a $350 million renovation project of the property after his company took over operations in October 2023.

Rio Hotel & Casino is located just one block off the famed Las Vegas Strip on Flamingo Road. The facility boasts newly renovated 580 square-foot guest rooms and a new 3-acre pool paradise. A 150,000 square-foot casino and a massive convention and meeting complex are available as well.

Over 1,500 rooms and suites have been newly remodeled in the Ipanema Tower between 2023 and 2024. The 15,000-square-foot pool deck renovations are also complete.

Additionally, the renovation features new landscaping and multicolored chairs and umbrellas. The design was inspired by the beaches of Rio de Janeiro.
