Caesars Virginia in Danville expects to fill about 700 positions

The company expects to fill approximately 700 positions — including security, hospitality, and card dealers. The event attracted a number of residents with different skillsets hoping to secure a casino job.

Caesars Virginia said since it opened the temporary casino last May, the temporary casino has employed 458 team members and promoted 110 of those to supervisor positions. The company is proud to create job opportunities.

Youshique Gilbert, Director of Human Resources for Caesars Virginia, said to WFMY News 2: “We believe in local progression as far as in terms of our local candidates have an opportunity to work with us. So no one wants to just bring people from out of state or different places to come and work for a company.

“We wanna show that our local team members get first any positions we have available. You know, we have a lot of benefits that is available to them. So it’s a good opportunity for them to join our team.”

Next hiring event is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 26

Lauren Maree, a local resident, also attended the Caesars Virginia event Tuesday. “I think hiring events are important. I’m a very social person,” she told WFMY News 2.

“So I love to get out and talk to people and that pretty much puts me in the forefront to find employment because I can get my face and name out there.”

Another hiring event is scheduled in two weeks for Aug. 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Moreover, the casino’s $750 million project, located on the former grounds of Dan River Inc.’s textile campus, is on track to open later this year.

Caesars Virginia property plans include a 320-room hotel and world-class casino gaming floor with over 1,300 of the most exciting slots, 85 table games, 24 electronic table games, WSOP room, and Caesars Sportsbook.

The resort will also feature a full-service spa, pool, upscale bars and lounges, and a variety of dining options. Additionally, guests will have access to the 2,500-seat live entertainment theater and over 50,000 square feet of meeting and convention space.
