Northwestern Has The Most Expensive Average Football Tickets In The Big Ten

How does a Northwestern University team that finished with a 5-4 conference record last season have an average ticket price that is $63 higher than any other team in the Big Ten?

Renovations to the home field of the Wildcats are forcing them to play away from their familiar grounds for the 2024 season, with “home” games being played both at Wrigley Field and at Martin Stadium. The latter of the two locations is Northwestern’s usual home for soccer and lacrosse, and has a limited number of seats in comparison to the football stadium.

This has caused ticket prices to skyrocket, with all of Northwestern’s home games costing north of $136. Four of the seven have get-in prices of over $200, including a $376 price tag for their game against Wisconsin.

Most Expensive Big Ten Football Games In 2024

    Date Matchup Get-In Price

    September 7th Texas @ Michigan $441

    November 30th Michigan @ Ohio State $389

    October 19th Wisconsin @ Northwestern $374

    October 12th Ohio State @ Oregon $367

    October 5th Indiana @ Northwestern $278

Michigan will play in the two priciest games in the Big Ten this season. Their home date against Texas in Week 2 comes in at $441, over $50 more expensive than the next highest. That designation belongs to the November 30th matchup between the Wolverines and their rival Ohio State, with a get-in price of $389.

Oregon will be hosting the 4th-most expensive game on the Big Ten schedule this coming season, as the get-in price for their matchup with Ohio State on October 12th is set at $367. It is the marquee game on the home schedule for the Ducks, as the next-highest priced ticket is $101 (Nov. 30th vs. Washington).

Illinois Games Have An Average Get-In Price Of Just $10

    Date Matchup Get-In Price

    November 2nd Minnesota @ Illinois $5

Maryland and Indiana have some of the cheapest tickets in the Big Ten this season, but they might be considered expensive in comparison to Illinois. The priciest home game on the schedule for the Fighting Illini is $41, which is nearly 500% more expensive than their next-highest.

Every other game on the schedule for Illinois is priced at $7 or less, and they own four of the five least-expensive games on the schedule.

Maryland, Indiana, Purdue, and Rutgers all have an average ticket price of $30 or less, as well.
