The Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles are rivals in the NFC East. Today, they became trade partners as the Commanders sent Jahan Dotson to the Eagles.

Commanders Trade WR Jahan Dotson to Eagles

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Commanders traded Jahan Dotson and a 2025 fifth-round pick to the Eagles in exchange for a third-round pick and two seventh-round picks in 2025.

The trade ends Dotson’s short-lived time in Washington.

The Commanders selected Dotson with the 16th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Washington originally held the No. 11 pick but traded back five spots before selecting Dotson.

Drafted to be the team’s second option behind Terry McLaurin, the Penn State product never lived up to his first-round potential.

In two seasons, Dotson caught 84 passes for 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns.

With Dotson gone, Washington will turn to rookie Luke McCaffrey, and veterans Olamide Zaccheaus and Jamison Crowder to play the slot.

Eagles Add Another Weapon To Explosive Offense

With the acquisition of Dotson, the Eagles add another weapon to their already explosive offense.

Dotson becomes the No. 3 receiver and moves right into the slot. Dotson joins a group of pass-catchers, which includes receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, and tight end Dallas Goedert.

The Eagles’ biggest acquisition was running back Saquon Barkley, who signed a three-year, $37.75 million contract this offseason, with $26 million guaranteed.

If quarterback Jalen Hurts can cut back on the turnovers (a career-high 15 interceptions in 2023), the Eagles will have one of the best offenses in the NFC.
