Cowboys WR Depth Chart: Projecting CeeDee Lamb Week 1 Workload

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is trending toward playing Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns. After a training camp holdout, how will Lamb perform? Below, we project Lamb’s Week 1 workload.

CeeDee Lamb Week 1 Projections

Due to a contract dispute, Lamb did not report to the start of training camp. After missing the entire preseason, Lamb and the Cowboys agreed to a long-term extension on August 26.

Lamb signed a four-year, $136 million extension, with $100 million guaranteed. The contract features a record-breaking $38 million signing bonus, the most ever given to a wide receiver.

Lamb is finally practicing with the Cowboys as they prepare to play the Browns.

Although Lamb is healthy, playing an entire game with only a few practices under his belt runs the risk of injuries. Per The Atheltic’s Jon Machota, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said the team is monitoring Lamb’s reps during the week as they “build up” for Sunday.

Barring a setback, Lamb will play on Sunday afternoon. Lamb’s snap count is still in the air.

Lamb is the Cowboys’ No. 1 receiver whenever he steps on the field. The 25-year-old is coming off a career year in 2023, where he collected 135 catches, 1,749 yards, and 12 touchdowns.

Even with a healthy Lamb, the Cowboys face a strong Browns defense that ranked first in total yards/game (270.2) and passing yards/game (164.7) a season ago.

Lamb also faces a Cleveland secondary that’s arguably the best in the NFL, with Denzel Ward, Martin Emerson Jr., and Greg Newsome II. Temper expectations for Lamb’s performance on Sunday.

CeeDee Lamb Remains On The NFL Commissioner’s Exempt List

Lamb was placed on the NFL Commissioner’s Exempt List after signing his extenson.

The list gives certain players a special exemption to not count toward the 53-man roster as Lamb ramps up to play in Week 1.

Only Roger Goodell, the NFL’s commissioner, controls the list. Teams do not have a say in which players make the list.

Lamb must be removed from the list to play in Week 1.
