NASCAR Cup Series Bass Pro Shops Night Race Entry List: Dates, Event Times At Bristol Motor Speedway

NASCAR Cup Series driver Martin Truex Jr. sounds like an “old man” getting ready to retire.
With three laps remaining during last Sunday’s Go Bowling at The Glen, Kyle Larson attempted to block Todd Gilliland to protect his P15 position. Gilliland ended up losing control of his No. 38 Ford, which collided with Chase Elliott and Josh Berry.
Truex’s machine also clipped the outside wall and placed P20. The 2017 Cup champion who announced his retirement at the end of this season, sounded grumpy when he referenced Larson’s aggressive move in a post-race interview with reporters.
“I just don’t really understand how guys call themselves the best in the world when they just drive through everyone on restarts at the end of these races,” Truex said. “So it’s very frustrating, but it is what it is these days so I am out of here.”
Non-playoff pilot Chris Buescher earned the road-course win at Watkins Glen International following a last-lap duel with Shane van Gisbergen. Entering next Sunday’s Round of 16 finale at Bristol Motor Speedway, Truex remains 14 points below the cutoff line. Denny Hamlin (minus-six) and Brad Keselowski (minus-14) also trail No. 12-ranked Ty Gibbs.
