Within a second of claiming his first NASCAR Xfinity Series race, driver Parker Kligerman eagerly anticipated his long-time-coming triumphant moment.

Within that moment, however, Kligerman debut trip to Victory Lane was suspended, then upended in overtime as Sam Mayer rallied to capture Saturday’s Drive For the Cure 250 Presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina at the new-look Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course.

With Kligerman within yards of crossing the start/finish line, race officials waved the caution flag, signaling overtime.

“It really, really, really hurts,” Klignerman said, as reported by Frontstretch.com.

In another post-race interview, he told CW Sports: “It would’ve meant the world.”
