NASCAR Cup Series South Point 400 Entry List: Dates, Event Times At Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Hendrick Motorsports may have announced Monday that the NASCAR Cup Series organization will not file an appeal on Alex Bowman’s disqualification a day earlier following the Round of 12 elimination event at Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course.
About three hours after believing the No. 48 Chevrolet team earned a spot into next weekend’s Round of 8 opener at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Bowman received word that his machine failed post-race inspection for being 17 pounds too light. He placed P18 during the Bank of America ROVAL 400.
Officials addressed the situation in a press release: “NASCAR allows a clear margin to account for the difference in pre- and post-race weight. After a thorough review by our team and the sanctioning body, we simply did not give ourselves enough margin to meet the post-race requirement. Although unintentional, the infraction was avoidable.
“We are extremely disappointed to lose a playoff spot under these circumstances and apologize to our fans and partners.”
Two-time Cup champion Joey Logano replaced Bowman in the Round of 8.
