The injuries keep piling up for the New Orleans Saints. Wide receiver Rashid Shaheed has suffered a knee injury that may cause him to miss the rest of the season.

    Rashid Shaheed Injury Details

Shaheed has already been ruled out of Thursday night’s game against the Denver Broncos.

However, things could get worse for the Saints receiver. Dennis Allen informed reporters that Shaheed will undergo surgery on his meniscus.

The surgery will determine whether it’s a trim or a full repair. A trim means Shaheed would be eligible to return later this year. If the surgery results in a full repair, Shaheed’s 2024 season is likely over.

Shaheed is one of the Saints’ most dynamic offensive players. With game-breaking speed, Shaheed is the team’s best deep threat, with touchdown catches of 59 and 70 yards in the Saints’ first two games.

Shaheed’s numbers through five games include 20 receptions for 349 yards and three touchdowns. Shaheed also returned a touchdown for a punt in Week 6.

    Saints Injuries Keep Adding Up

Shaheed is not the only pass-catcher set to miss time. The Saints’ No. 1 receiver, Chris Olave, has been ruled out for Week 7 with a concussion.

Tight end Taysom Hill is doubtful for Week 7 with a rib injury.

Quarterback Derek Carr remains out with an oblique injury, meaning rookie Spencer Rattler will make his second-career start.

In Week 6, Rattler completed 22 of 40 passes for 243 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a Saints’ 51-27 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Saints have not lost four consecutive games after starting 2-0.

The Saints (2-4) host the Broncos (3-3) on this week’s edition of Thursday Night Football.
