Other Teams In The Market Are 'Probably Willing To Overpay For' Bregman

With Tuesday's 4-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners, the Houston Astros secured their fourth consecutive American League West title and locked in their position as the AL's No. 3 seed in the Wild Card Series.

The final regular-season home game Wednesday afternoon saw Alex Bregman start at third base. However, in the fourth inning, manager Joe Espada removed Bregman from the game to receive an ovation from the fans at Minute Maid Park in what could be his final regular-season home game with the Astros.

Brian Bogusevic, former Astros outfielder and Space City Home Network analyst, joins to discuss Alex Bregman's future in Houston.

Bregman is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and while general manager Dana Brown has said he will talk with agent Scott Boras about an extension, "there are going to be people in the market willing to overpay for him," Bogusevic said.

The Astros have a history of not paying the market and thus not extending homegrown players, such as Carlos Correa and George Springer. Other teams might be willing to offer Bregman more than the Astros because "they don't have what they think [Bregman] brings to a clubhouse."

Bogusevic also previews the Astros regular season series finale against the Cleveland Guardians and the playoff picture.
