Fires near Wickiup Reservoir remain steady at 250 acres Friday
The Wickiup and Round Mountain fires west of La Pine remained at a combined 250 acres Friday morning as firefighters worked to secure perimeters around them. Central Oregon Fire Information said the Wickiup Fire, seven miles northwest of La Pine and just north of Wickiup Reservoir, is now about 200 acres. It is 0% contained.

SALEM Ore. (KPTV) - After several dogs were sickened from salmon poisoning around Newport, Oregon authorities warned people to keep pets away from dead fish on Thursday. According to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, salmon and trout carcasses may harbor the bacteria Neorickettsia helminthoeca in their blood which can kill dogs without treatment. The bacteria is transmitted through a parasitic flatworm or “fluke” and can infect a dog after it eats, bites or even licks an infected fish carcass.

Salem Police crack down on motorcycle theft ring, arrest five after gunfire incident
SALEM, Ore. — The Salem Police Department (SPD) arrested a suspect on Wednesday, in connection to a shots-fired incident that occurred a week ago, on July 11th, 2024. PDX airport debuts 'immersive, forest-like' terminal Aug. 14
A newly renovated terminal designed to immerse travelers in “Pacific Northwest landscapes” is debuting at the PDX Airport on August 14. Officials with the Port of Portland announced earlier this year that the public unveiling of the new main terminal would happen in August but on Wednesday they gave the specific date. With the addition of 72 live trees, designers behind the terminal said the intention is to recreate a “walk in the forest.” It will also mark the return of pre-security shopping and dining, meaning people can enjoy the new terminal without having to buy a plane ticket.
