SPRING CITY — The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) recently announced the upcoming Chuck Copeland Memorial Kids’ Fishing Rodeo, set to take place on Saturday, June 8, at Veteran’s Park in Spring City. The event promises an exciting opportunity for children to engage in the age-old pastime of fishing.

Registration for the fishing rodeo will commence at 7 a.m. on June 8, and eager participants are encouraged to arrive early to secure their spot. Fishing activities will begin at 8 a.m. and continue until 11 a.m. All participants are required to bring their own rod and reel, as well as bait if possible. However, a limited number of loaner rods and free bait will be available for those in need.

To enhance the fishing experience, TWRA will diligently stock the river with an assortment of catfish before the event, ensuring an abundance of catch opportunities for the young anglers. Nets will be placed to facilitate a safe and enjoyable fishing environment.

In the spirit of fairness, registration bags will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees are encouraged to secure their bags early, as supplies are limited. The bags will be handed out throughout the event and will be available until stocks last.

In a collaborative effort, the TWRA, Watts Bar Lake Association and the Town of Spring City kindly request that all attendees contribute to maintaining a clean and pristine environment. As such, participants are urged to clean up any trash or unwanted items before leaving the fishing rodeo. By doing so, they help preserve the natural beauty of Veteran’s Park and its surroundings.

In adherence to the event’s guidelines, it is important to note that nobody will be permitted to set up their fishing equipment before 6 a.m. on the day of the rodeo. This rule ensures fair and equal access for all participants.

The Chuck Copeland Memorial Kid’s Fishing Rodeo warmly welcomes donations, which will be gratefully accepted. The contributions will go towards continuing the legacy of this cherished event, allowing future generations to experience the joys of fishing while honoring Chuck Copeland’s memory. It promises to be a memorable day filled with excitement, camaraderie and the thrill of reeling in that big catch.
