SPRINGBORO, Ohio (WDTN) — The city of Springboro could soon purchase a portion of land of a longtime, highly-debated property.

The Springboro City Council’s regular meeting agenda shows city councilmembers could vote on a resolution to purchase land at 605 N. Main St. in Springboro, the site of Easton Farm.

Although the proposed acreage purchase is a large amount of land, it is believed to only be a portion of the property. According to a memorandum obtained by 2 NEWS through a public records request, the city is expected to pay $7 million for 60 acres of the 103-acre property.

“The City has been approached by the representatives of the owners of the Easton Farm property to purchase 60 acres of property in between the existing homestead and the portion of the property that is proposed to be developed as existing commercial and multi-family,” the memo said.

If the resolution passes, the memo displays it would direct Springboro City Manager Chris Pozzuto “to negotiate and execute an agreement to purchase certain property located on 605 North Main Street.”

On Thursday, July 18 at 7 p.m., the Springboro City Council will hold their regular meeting at 320 W. Central Ave. in Springboro.
