SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — One NWA nonprofit is letting new local business owners put their skills to the test.

On July 13, graduates of Canopy Northwest Arkansas’ entrepreneurship class sold their products at the Immigrant-Owned Business Expo held at the venue in Springdale.

The products available included baked bread from countries such as Afghanistan and Syria, alongside various woven items like hair scrunchies.

“With those women, we are hoping that they can be more independent and helping their families to be more economically independent,” Canopy member Saja Alshafeay said. “And also, to engage with the community to show people what they have because they are so talented.”
