2-vehicle crash in Effingham County claims driver’s life

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – A two-vehicle crash in Effingham County has left one dead and two others injured.

Just after 12:30 p.m. on Monday, a crash occurred near the intersection of McCall Road and Highway 21 in Springfield. The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) responded to the crash.

Two people in a pickup truck who were involved in the accident were taken to the hospital. According to ECSO, their injuries are not known at this time.

The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene and was identified as 45-year-old Laura Devisscher.

The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.

The road in this area is back open to traffic.
