PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Maddie Stickelmaier scored a goal and assisted on another to lead Notre Dame past Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin, 3-1, in girls soccer at She Stadium on Friday night.

Stickelmaier started the scoring in the 11th minute. Ava Lafollette’s pass to the box bounced off a defender and out to Stickelmaier who was about 20 yards from the net.

She gathered the loose ball and fired it home to start the scoring. Then in the 67th minute, a Stickelmaier corner kick was headed home by Abigail Chaddock to make it a 3-1 game.

Lafollette scored an unassisted goal in the first half for Notre Dame’s other tally. The Irish improved to 9-0 on the season.

East Peoria, Washington, Normal Community, Bloomington and Notre Dame were among the baseball winners on Friday.

Peoria High School basketball players Allannah Jackson and Niasha Rutherford announced they will attend Eureka College. The two helped Peoria High wins its first girls basketball state trophy with a third place finish in 2023.
