    Crime Stoppers seeking tips in Springfield credit card fraud

    SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — Sangamon/Menard County Crime Stoppers is getting involved with a case of a misplaced credit card being used without authorization, hoping to find a tip that leads to an arrest.

    Officials said a man lost his wallet on May 4 while he was fishing near Bridgeview Beach House at Lake Springfield. Four days later, the LINK card inside the wallet was used to make purchases at the Save A Lot on Clear Lake Avenue. Another unauthorized purchase was attempted in Decatur using a debit card that was also inside the wallet.

    Two people are suspected of using the LINK card at the Save A Lot. Crime Stoppers posted the following image on their website, showing the pair as they entered the store.

    Anyone who has information regarding the identities of these people are asked to contact Sangamon/Menard County Crime Stoppers and submit a tip. People can call 217-788-8427, visit Crime Stoppers’ website or use the P3 Tips app.

    Any tip to Crime Stoppers is both anonymous and eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,500 if the tip results in an arrest.
