    We are used to having that talk with our young black men about what to do when they encounter police officers. However in the climate we are living today we really need to have that same talk with our young black women.

    Sonya Massey of Illinois called police because she that someone was lurking around her house, and she was afraid for her safety, only for the ones that are paid to protect and serve ended up killing her.

    The 36-minute video released via the Illinois State Police includes body-camera footage from each of the two Sangamon County sheriff’s deputies who responded to Massey’s house after midnight on July 6 after Massey called 911 to report a possible “prowler” at her home in Springfield, according to a court document filed by prosecutors. {

    The sheriff who was in Sonya Massey’s home, gave 36 year old black woman permission to turn off a pot of boiling water on her stove. The sheriff took a step back from her turning the pot off, then he pulled out his gun shooting Sonya Massey in the face killing her.

    Sonya Massey’s family claim they were given conflicting stories as to what happened to her that night and allegedly were led to believe that she was killed by an intruder.

    30 year old deputy Sean Grayson has been fired and was indicted by a grand jury last week on three counts of first-degree murder and one count each of aggravated battery with a firearm and official misconduct. He has entered a not guilty plea and was denied pretrial release, according to court records.
