Springfield burglars steal $13k, Crime Stoppers seeking tips

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — The Springfield Police Department is looking for two people who stole more than $13,000 from an ATM and gaming machines earlier this month. Crime Stoppers is now getting involved in the hopes of finding a tip to pass along to police.

Officials said that the morning of July 8, two suspects broke into Lucy’s Place at 1822 Stevenson Drive, attempted to cut the power and broke into gaming and automated teller machines. In addition to the stolen money, the suspects caused over $3,000 worth of damage.

Anyone who has information regarding the burglary or who can identity the people responsible for it is asked to contact Sangamon/Menard County Crime Stoppers by calling 217-788-8427, visiting their website or using the P3 Tips app. Any tip submitted to Crime Stoppers is both anonymous and eligible for up to $2,500 should the tip lead to an arrest.
