    Springfield announces ‘Movies in the Park’ schedule this summer

    SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — City officials have revealed Springfield’s 2024 summer ‘Movies in the Park’ schedule Tuesday at Marshall Roy Park.

    The ‘Movies in the Park’ series offers free public movie nights in parks throughout Springfield. This year’s series will run from Monday, July 8th to Friday, July 26th, with showings on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8:30 p.m.

    “It’s a great way to show everyone that we are one community, spread out into many different neighborhoods but everyone is getting the same thing,” said Tom Ashe, Executive Director of the Parks, Building and Recreational Management.

    The full schedule of movies and their respective locations will be the following:

    • Monday, July 8 at Marshall Roy Park – Elemental (2023)
    • Wednesday, July 10 at Samuel Bolden Park – Elemental (2023)
    • Friday, July 12 at Forest Park Amphitheater – Elemental (2023)
    • Monday, July 15 at Blunt Park – Migration (2023)
    • Wednesday, July 17 at Emerson Wight Park – Migration (2023)
    • Friday, July 19 at Nathan Bill Park – Migration (2023)
    • Monday, July 22 at Van Horn Park – Wonka (2023)
    • Wednesday, July 24 at Myrtle St. Park – Wonka (2023)
    • Friday, July 26 at Kenefick Park – Wonka (2023)

    “We are excited to bring back the ‘Movies in the Park’ series, providing a wonderful opportunity for families and friends to gather and enjoy free movies under the stars in our beautiful parks,” said Mayor Sarno. “This initiative is a great way to promote community engagement and utilize our park spaces for family-friendly activities.”

    The series has been a beloved summer tradition in Springfield, fostering community spirit and offering residents a chance to enjoy outdoor cinema experiences. The selection of films and park venues aims to cater to diverse audiences, ensuring that there is something for everyone.
