SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Fourth of July is this week! To celebrate the country’s Independence Day, several communities in our area will have fireworks over the next few days.

Here’s a breakdown of where you can find firework displays this week:

Wednesday, July 3

• East Longmeadow: 9:30 p.m. at the East Longmeadow High School
• South Deerfield: 9:00 p.m. at Open field @ Tree House Brewing – 1 Community Place Rain Date: 7/06/2024
• South Hadley: 9:30 p.m. at 100 Mosier St. Rain Date: 7/05/2024

Thursday, July 4

• Agawam: 9:30 p.m. at Six Flags
• Pittsfield: 9:30 p.m. at Pittsfield Cemetery – 203 Wahconah St.
• Springfield: 9:30 p.m. at Riverfront Park
• Greenfield: 9:20 p.m. at Franklin County Fairgrounds – 89 Wisdom Way

Friday, July 5

All fireworks are illegal in Massachusetts including sparklers, firecrackers, and cherry bombs

In Massachusetts, individuals using fireworks must have a certificate of competency to work lawfully for professional fireworks displays. It is illegal for residents to use, possess, or sell fireworks of all kinds. This includes fireworks purchased legally elsewhere and brought into Massachusetts, sparklers, firecrackers, cherry bombs, and other fireworks. Fines range from $10 to $1,000, and some violations could have a one-year prison sentence.

There have been over 500 fires and explosions caused by the use of illegal fireworks in Massachusetts over the past five years, including more than 200 people treated medically for burns and other injuries.
