One dead, two injured in South End shooting in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A woman has died after a shooting in the South End neighborhood of Springfield early Friday morning.

According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, officers were called to the intersection of Oswego and Niagara Streets around 12:50 a.m. for a ShotSpotter activation. When they arrived, they found a woman with a gunshot wound. She was taken to Baystate Medical Center but has died from her injuries.

Two other men were also found with minor injuries.

“At this time as of recent shootings, it’s not really a lot I can say about it because it’s so fresh but it’s unfortunate that we have loss of life. I want to express and extend my sincere condolences to the families,” said Springfield Police Superintendent Lawrence Akers.
