According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, officers heard gunshots in the area of Allen Street and Alberta Street around 11:00 a.m. A witness told the officers a man allegedly fired a gun and left on a scooter.

A short time later, a man on a scooter was found in a parking lot on Orange Street. The man, later identified as 28-year-old Christian Ayala-Pellot of Springfield, saw police and attempted to drive away. Ayala-Pellot attempted to drive through a red light when he was hit by a vehicle legally going through the intersection. Ayala-Pellot then attempted to run but officers were able to arrest him in a backyard of a nearby home.

A loaded firearm and four bags of heroin were seized from a fanny pack Ayala-Pellot had in his possession. While he was being booked at the police department, Ayala-Pellot allegedly gave a fake name. Once officers discovered his real identity, it was revealed he was wanted for a warrant in Pennsylvania.
