House on James Street in Springfield struck by gunfire, two teens arrested

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Two teenagers were arrested after a home on James Street in Springfield was struck by gunfire on Wednesday.

According to a news release from the Springfield Police Department, at around 12:35 p.m. officers were called to the area of the 0-100 block of James Street for a ShotSpotter activation. The investigation revealed that a home was struck by gunfire and information was received about the suspects and alleged vehicle involved.

At around 1:55 p.m. officers arrested two suspects, 18-year-old Roberto Pagen of Springfield and a 16-year-old juvenile, on Granville Street. Pagen was found outside the home and officers recovered the car key, a mask, and medical gloves. The vehicle was reported stolen.

Pagen is being charged with the following:

• Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building
• Malicious Destruction of Property Less than $1,200
• Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle

The juvenile was found inside the home and was previously arrested on illegal firearms charges in December 2022. Due to Springfield police policy, the name and mugshot of the juvenile cannot be released due to his age.
