    First Black woman superintendent to lead Springfield Public Schools

    SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The four-year contract for the Superintendent of Springfield Public Schools has been unanimously approved and signed by all members of the school committee.

    According to a news release sent to 22News, Dr. Sonia Dinnall will begin her tenure as the Superintendent of Springfield Public Schools on Monday, July 15th.

    Dr. Dinnall, a lifelong resident of the city now becomes both the first woman and the first Black woman to lead Springfield Public Schools. As the new superintendent, Dinnall says that she’s committed to “leveling playing fields, championing equity, and mitigating barriers,”.

    She adds that she’s looking forward to doing her very best for the “best and brightest students.”
