SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) – President of Mercy Medical Center, Dr. Robert Roose said no matter your insurance coverage, you should never delay medical care.

What you need to know from the UnitedHealthcare and Trinity Health situation

But he also had some guidance for patients who are concerned about losing access to their doctors.

“Our priority is patient care” said Dr. Roose.

Trinity Health of New England is no longer in UnitedHealthcare’s network, but they want to support their patients and help where they can.

22News sat down with Dr. Robert Roose, President of Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. He told us Trinity Health is supported by reimbursements of care by insurance companies, including commercial insurance companies like UnitedHealthcare or government payers like Medicare.

Dr. Roose said, “Hospitals like Mercy Medical Center rely on, and can only fulfill our commitment to our community when they are paid fairly and equitably for the services and care that we provide.”

With Trinity Health no longer in UnitedHealthCare’s network, Dr. Roose said one of the best things you can do right now is call your provider. “If you have a provider that is part of Trinity Health or Mercy Medical Center, call your provider and let them know your concerns and they will arrange for you to receive the care you need.”

Trinity Health of New England wants to make sure the most important thing people should know, is to not delay any care you need.

“Mercy Medical Center is here for the community and we continue to see patients regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay in our emergency departments and throughout our hospital system in our networks” Dr. Roose reassured.

Dr. Roose encourages those with concerns to reach out to your health care provider and they will help to make sure you get the care you need.

For UnitedHealthcare insurance holders, Mercy Medical Center will be in-network through August 31st.
