SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – In a matter of hours, millions will witness one of the most unique Olympic Opening Ceremonies to date.

10,000 athletes will sail down the Seine River on Friday, July 26th to kickoff the summer games and you can catch it all from the comfort of your home.

What’s historically been held inside a stadium will set sail on the water tomorrow. The parade of nations will welcome 206 countries and their athletes in to the games by boat.

NBC will kickoff all the action at noon eastern time with a pre-show, followed by the opening ceremonies at 1:30pm that are expected to last over four hours.

The parade will take off at the Austerlitz Bridge and end at the Trocadero near the Eiffel Tower. Athletes will pass the Louvre and the Notre-Dame Cathedral as they parade along the river.

Baystaters are eager for the games to officially kick off, hoping to witness the greats battle for gold once again.

“Brazil, USA, France…these are some top top teams. The game I can remember most is watching the 2012 final between Russia and Brazil. It’s one of the greatest games of history of all of Volleyball,” shared Jacob Kukharchuk of West Springfield.

Olympic events and the opening ceremony can be enjoyed from the comfort of your home. Viewers can tune in on their local NBC station like 22News. Other options are streaming on Peacock or directly from your phone on the NBC and NBC Olympic apps. A live stream of all events are also available on NBC.com and NBColympics.com.

The 2024 Summer Olympic Games will officially run from July 26th through August 11th.
