SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – On Thursday night, a thriving creative hub for the Greater Springfield area celebrated its 8th anniversary.
To mark this milestone, ‘Make It Springfield’ hosted a dinner at their location on Bridge Street in downtown Springfield. Over the years, it has evolved from a pop-up experiment to a larger and more permanent location.
It has provided a free and welcoming open studio for people of all ages to explore their creative passions. They have also expanded their services to include different workshops. One of its co-founders and donors who helped make this expansion possible was recognized this Thursday evening.
“When they’re creating or inventing something, they get quieter inside and all that grit and all that tension and all that stress that goes along with everyday living disappears and you can see it in people’s faces. and then they begin to get actually very clear about the things they want to do in their life. And we’ve watched that happen again and again and again,” said Executive Director of Make it Springfield, Roberta Wilmore.
‘Make-It Springfield’ plans to expand and renovate the third floor of its current location on Bridge Street. Teens from their fashion design and disciplinary arts program will also be attending this year’s ‘New York Fashion Show’ in September.
