Exit 3 on I-91 North temporarily closed overnight Thursday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A portion of I-91 Northbound will be restricted for road repairs beginning Thursday night.

Access from I-91 northbound Exit 3 to Route 5 northbound will be restricted on Thursday from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Friday. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) work crews will perform bridge deck and joint repairs on the flyover ramp.

All I-91 northbound traffic access to Route 5 northbound to Agawam will be detoured:

• Traffic will still use exit 3 and keep right onto East Columbus Avenue.
• Vehicles will then take a left on Main Street, passing under I-91, and another left onto the I-91 southbound on-ramp to reverse direction.
• Traffic will merge onto Route 5 northbound from I-91 southbound exit 3 and continue into Agawam.

Drivers should expect delays and possible traffic stoppages. Signs, messaging, and law enforcement will be in place to guide drivers. The road construction is weather-dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency.
