SPRINGFIELD, Mo–In less then two months, the Missouri State volleyball team will start its season.

And the new Bears sports campaign will be underway.

Between now and then new Missouri State president Richard Williams will need to find an athletics director.

Williams officially got the keys to the university on July first.

And one of his top priorities is to find a replacement for Kyle Moats.

Moats left after 15 years to go to Eastern Kentucky.

Missouri State will also transition from the Missouri Valley conference to Conference USA a year from now.

Williams says there is plenty of interest in the athletics director job.

“The search is open. As of yesterday we had 30 strong applicants. And it’s not even the deadline yet. So I’m assuming we’ll get another 30 applicants. And we’ve got to find the right person. We will look at their credentials. We’ll look at who can bring some new skill sets to our athletics department. And we’ll start building our athletics department from there,” said Williams.
