    Springfield Park Board extends pool hours, opens cooling centers due to heat advisory

    SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Springfield-Greene County Park Board is opening cooling centers and extending pool hours on Monday, July 15, and Tuesday, July 16, due to a Heat Advisory.

    The National Weather Service in Springfield issued a Heat Advisory for Greene County for Monday and Tuesday.

    Springfield-Greene County Park Board will open its Family Center lobbies and the Jordan Valley Ice Park as free cooling centers during these heat advisories. All lobbies have air conditioning, restroom access and seating.

    These cooling centers include:

    • Chesterfield Family Center on 2511 W. Republic Road
    • Dan Kinney Family Center on 2701 S. Blackman Road
    • Doling Family Center on 301 E. Talmage Ave.
    • Jordan Valley Ice Park on 735 E. Trafficway (enter through the east-side door facing the Jordan Valley Park fountains)

    The family center locations are open Monday-Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Jordan Valley Ice Center is open daily from noon to 5 p.m.

    The Silver Springs Pool at 1100 N. Hampton Ave. will also be open until 8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. Admission is $4 for youth and seniors and $5 for adults from 1-5:30 p.m. Admission drops to $1 or free with a canned food donation for the Ozarks Food Harvest from 5:30-8 p.m.

    The Ozarks Stream and Fountain at Jordan Valley Park will also be open to the public. The fountains run daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with fountain shows at the top of every hour with free admission.

    The Springfield Skate Park will operate on a modified schedule from 5-9 p.m. on Sunday due to the Heat Advisory. The Skate Park is closed on Mondays.
