Sunday, July 14th: Summer heatwave stepping up

Well, it got hot today. Temperatures climb into the 90s with feels-like temperatures surpassing 100 degrees this afternoon. It’s only going to get hotter for the next couple of days.

Monday has the potential to be the warmest day we have yet to experience in 2024. Middle to upper 90s with humidity sticking around. Feels-like temperatures will range from 105-110 degrees.

One more toasty day for Tuesday with temperatures staying above 90, however, relief arrives Tuesday night. A cold front will push through in the nighttime hours, effectively sweeping away much of this heat and humidity.

In the process, I am expecting thunderstorms to develop. We will have a chance of severe weather mainly as large hail and damaging winds. Rainfall totals have the potential to be impressive too.

Most places can pick up between half an inch to one inch with localized spots receiving up to 2-3″.

After rain moves out during the middle of the week, temperatures will be much nicer. Highs will be contained in the lower 80s to finish out the week.
