SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Springfield woman accused of arson is now facing new charges in an assault case from 2022.

Online court documents show 44-year-old Fredaann Marie Reed is charged with second-degree assault in connection with an incident that happened at a Walgreens in November 2022.

According to a probable cause statement from the Springfield Police Department (SPD), a Walgreens employee approached Reed in an aisle and asked if she needed any assistance. Reed replied, “No, leave me alone”, then pushed their cart into the worker’s stomach and side. Reed also pushed the employee into the shelving with both hands.

Documents state the employee received medical treatment for her injuries, including an MRI, throughout 2023. SPD stated the employee eventually required surgery on her left shoulder in November 2023 due to her injuries from the incident.

Reed is also charged with first-degree arson after police say she set fire to a home after being served an eviction notice. That incident happened in September 2023, nearly a year after the Walgreens assault took place.

Court documents state a judge has granted Reed a continuance to September 2024 in the arson case due to the new assault charges.
