SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The man who runs Plaza Towers in Springfield has been charged with multiple counts of domestic assault.

Online documents show Marco L. Denis owns Springfield Property, LLC., the company that owns Plaza Towers. Court records show the 49-year-old Denis has been charged with three counts of domestic assault and one count of first-degree kidnapping.

A probable cause statement from the Springfield Police Department (SPD) says two witnesses were driving near Lone Pine Avenue and Battlefield Road on Sunday when they saw a car door open suddenly, and a woman’s legs kicking frantically out of the door. The driver, later identified as Denis, was trying to pull her back into the vehicle, aggressively pulling her hair and choking her.

The victim broke free from Denis and ran to a witness’ car, according to police. The witness drove the victim to SPD headquarters, where EMS responded due to her injuries.

The probable cause statement said the victim suffered numerous injuries to different parts of her body.

During her interview with police, the victim said Denis had abused her multiple times in the hours prior.

When police interviewed Denis they say he denied assaulting the victim and told investigators he believed her injuries were the result of an accident.
