Friday, July 19: Feeling like fall in July

Happy Friday! We’re off to a great start this morning with clear skies and cool temperatures. Some spots woke up to the 50s today! We’ll see skies gradually become partly cloudy as we go into the afternoon and temperatures will stabilize near 80°. Winds will be light from the east and humidity will be low.

Friday night plans are good to go! Temperatures at 6PM will be in the upper 70s and by 9PM they will have fallen to near 70°. Lows tonight will dip into the low 60s and upper 50s once again.

The weekend begins nicely with low 80s and low winds on Saturday. Enjoy Saturday because daily chances for rain begin going into Sunday.

The pattern will take a turn for the cloudier and wetter by Sunday as a storm dives into the middle of the country. A jetstream trough will also shift south meaning our cool pattern will continue over this time. Scattered showers and storms are likely during this time, but rainfall doesn’t look overly heavy or continuous.

The latest guidance suggests that the trough will persist through late next week. This will help keep temperatures a little below normal as we kick off the Ozark Empire Fair. “Typical” summer heat will gradually creep back into the area over the following weekend.
