SPRINGFIELD–For golfers on the Korn Ferry Tour, you’d think there’d be far less pressure to play well once they make it to the weekend. But that’s where assuming gets you in trouble. KOLR10’s Dan Lucy recaps “moving day” at the Price Cutter Charity Championship.

Texas native Cooper Dossey teed off the third round with a one stroke lead at 14 under. But had a pack of golfers nipping at his heels.

This is all new for 26-year old Cooper Dossey. It’s his first year on the Korn Ferry Tour. And he’s never teed off the third round with a lead. His biggest challenge is not to let the pressure get to him. There’s still a round of golf on Sunday.”

“I’ve been around the lead a lot maybe not as much this year. But in the past, in Canada and down on the mini tours,” said Dossey.

Dossey had trouble finding birdies all day. But his playing partner Brian Campbell didnt’. This birdie on number one moved Campbell to 14 under. The California native birdied three of the first five holes to get to 16 under.

Joining Campbell at 16 under was Matt McCarty. He birdied three to get things going.
Then on 8 rolled in this birdie to go to 16 under par.

“I actually missed a putt on the first hole. And then rattled off four in a row. I had a lot of good numbers out there today. Which is always nice a lot of full swings,” said McCarty.

At the turn, Dossey found himself in front of a cement truck and in trouble.
He scrambled for a bogey, but fell off the lead.

“Thank God it’s not OB. I mean it was right. It’s pretty funny getting relief from a cement truck,” said Dossey.

Seven holes in front of Campbell and McCarty, Mark Goetz was putting the finishing touches on a fantastic round. He eagled 11 and on 18 rolls in another eagle putt.
The Pennsylvania native had a nine under par 63 and went into the clubhouse with the lead at 19 under.

“I told Chris my caddie after I hit it I apologized for that line. I didn’t want to sneak it that far over there. But it ended up working out pretty good. And I made a good read,” said Goetz.

Campbell stalled on the back nine. McCarty was tied with Goetz on 18 at 19 under. His birdie putt stopped just short, he finished tied for first.

“Keep doing what I’m doing. I’m playing good golf. Keep my head down and good things are going to happen. Try not to force it out there tomorrow,” said McCarty.

So it’s McCarty and Goetz tied at 19 under going into the final round. And Sunday’s winner takes home a 180-thousand dollar first place check.
