Captain Springfield's final matchup begins. Vote now in the final round

With more than 7,000 votes across the two semifinal matchups, the 9th Captain Springfield is just 24 hours from being crowned (or as we often say, "caped").

Of the two races, one was decided relatively early, while the other stayed close until the end.

Brandi VanAntwerp, CEO of United Way of the Ozarks, jumped out to an early lead and kept it. She finished with about two-thirds of the votes in her matchup with Jeff Houghton, of The Mystery Hour and more.

But that pairing accounted for only about a third of all votes in the semifinals, with readers seemingly more focused on the matchup between Missouri Ghostbusters co-founder Eddie Warren and Rep. Betsy Fogle.

On Thursday afternoon, Warren took a decent lead. By the evening, it was Fogle who looked to be more comfortably ahead.

Friday morning, the two were at times separated by less than a percentage point.

Ultimately, Fogle inched ahead late in the morning with about 52 percent of the votes.

That sets up our final between VanAntwerp and Fogle. Voting ends at noon Friday, with a winner announced soon after.
