Here are the Springfield area high school football top performers from Week 3 of the 2024 season. Submit your team's statistics to: wwheeler@news-leader.com:

    Cash Pomeroy, Marionville

As Marionville head coach Paden Grubbs said, this guy is "different."

Pomeroy rushed for about 120 yards and scored two touchdowns on limited touches during Marionville's 54-6 beatdown of Skyline.

    Bryer Guerin, Marionville

There are a handful of different Comets who have this team looking like one that can repeat as Class 1 champions. Their junior quarterback has been letting it fly this season more than he did a year ago. He was on target for deep touchdown passes on scoring plays of 84, 48 and 32 yards... all in the first quarter.

Oh, and he had an interception on the other side of the ball, too.

    Dylan Rebura, Nixa

These weekly articles might as well serve as your official "Dylan Rebura touchdown counter." He scored three against Joplin, putting him at 11 for the season.

Before you ask, the record for rushing touchdowns in a season is the 66 Mack Anderson rushed for at Southwest (Livingston County) in 2019. Marionville's Lee Flood holds the southwest Missouri record with the 49 he ran for in 2005. He scored 45 the next year, which Fair Grove's Caleb Schaffitzel also did in 2008.

    Noah Harrell, Kickapoo

At one point, Harrell never thought he'd play football again after he "popped a lung" a year ago. He didn't decide to play football this season until after Kickapoo played its jamboree less than a month ago. Three weeks later, Harrell scored the game-winning touchdown in the Chiefs' historic upset win over Webb City. It doesn't get much better than that.

    Preston McCracken, Republic

Republic's budding star at quarterback rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns while also throwing for a touchdown in a dominant win over Ozark.

    Landyn Collins, Carthage

Collins scored four touchdowns in the Tigers' 49-14 win over Glendale, setting up a battle of two of the Central Ozark Conference's 3-0 teams when they host Nixa next week.

    Ryder Ross, Strafford

Don't automatically pencil in Fair Grove as the best team in the Mid-Lakes... Strafford has some dudes and it's going to challenge for that league title.

Ross has been excellent this year for Strafford. He scored three touchdowns in a 35-0 win over Catholic which included scores from 84, 24 and nine yards out.

    Cade Spiva, Neosho

Spiva has quickly established himself as one of the area's top quarterbacks. He led Neosho to a win over Lebanon, completing 20 of 27 passes for the Wildcats for 206 yards and three touchdowns.
