The selected student will be announced Friday.

The Oct. 7 nominees are ...

Grace Pinkley, Summit Preparatory School: Described as a remarkable role model, Grace excels both in and out of the classroom, balancing her studies with a job. Last year, she initiated the school's Native Garden Club and has continued to lead it, reflecting her commitment to outdoor spaces and sharing her knowledge with other students. The senior is also the historian with the local 4-H chapter. Her efforts have contributed to Summit Prep being recognized as a "Seed School" in the Missouri Green Schools program.

Zuben Shelburn, Parkview High School: Zuben stands out for his thirst of knowledge and eagerness to delve deeper into material, grasping complex mathematical concepts and applying them with precision. He approaches every lesson with genuine sense of wonder, inquiry and curiosity that knowns no bounds. The senior participates in both the Science Olympiad and Academic Bowl. Outside of school, he assists in a physics lab at Missouri State University with Dr. Tiglet Besara in the Department of Physics, Astronomy and Material Sciences.
