To prepare for the holidays, Bass Pro Shops is looking for thousands of seasonal, part-time and full-time employees — whom it calls outfitters.

The national hiring event Wednesday and Thursday will include openings for 60 employees in Springfield, which are needed in multiple retail departments.

Applications can be submitted online at basspro.com/careers but walk-in interviews are available. The hiring event is 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Bass Pro Shops, 1 Bass Pro Drive in Springfield.

Those who can't make it can contact the store directly at 417-887-7334.

According to Bass Pro Shops, the ideal job candidate is friendly and loves the outdoors. The company was recently recognized by Newsweek as one of “America’s Most Admired Workplaces.”

In recent years, Forbes has ranked the outdoor retailer in the top 10 among “America’s Best Employers” as part of a nationwide survey of 500 large firms, according to a Tuesday news release.

    A few employee perks include:

    • Merchandise discounts up to 50% off
    • Competitive wages, holiday and vacation pay
    • Health, dental and life insurance programs for eligible team members
