Another week has come and gone and with the weekend offering time for respite it is time to celebrate another local high school and name them Student of the Week.

This round, Parkview High School's Zuben Shelburn captured readers' hearts and has taken the Student of the Week title. Shelburn stands out with his thirst of knowledge and eagerness to delve deeper into material, grasping complex mathematical concepts and applying them with precision. The senior approaches every lesson with genuine sense of wonder, inquiry and curiosity that knows no bounds.

Shelburn participates in both Science Olympiad and Academic Bowl. Outside of school, he assists in a physics lab at Missouri State University with Dr. Tiglet Besara in the Department of Physics, Astronomy and Material Sciences.

Student of the Week is an initiative by the News-Leader to highlight the academic achievements of local area high school students. Nominations for students who have shown outstanding academic and school achievement and community service are gathered from administrators at participating districts in the Ozarks.
